Radiography – Digital X-ray Imaging

X-ray imaging, or radiography, uses a very small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the body’s internal structures.

Why Radiography?

X-rays are often used to help diagnose fractured bones, look for injury or infection, or locate foreign objects in soft tissue.

Depending on the type of test, you may be asked to wear a gown or you may be able to wear your own clothing. All jewelry and other metallic items should be left at home or removed prior to the exam.

During Your Procedure

During your procedure, the technologist will position the anatomy of interest in various positions that allow different views of the area. You may be asked to hold your breath for brief periods of time.

The average amount of time for x-ray procedures are only a few minutes, depending on the number of views prescribed by the Radiologist.

If you have questions about an X-ray procedure, please contact our Diagnostic Imaging staff by calling (740) 623-4132. For more information on Diagnostic Imaging testing and treatments, visit RadiologyInfo.org.

X-rays / Radiographs do not require an appointment.
